Peru

Peru
Visitors are drawn to Peru for its variety of attractions, such as its archaeological treasures, the Andes Mountains, and the Amazon rainforest, which makes up about half the country. According to the World Bank’s Doing Business Report (2010), Peru is the second largest economy in Latin America. The country experienced an economic boom in the 2000s, and in 2011 Peru was said to have one of the world's fastest-growing economies. It has enjoyed continued growth and is among the top performers in Latin America, with an average GDP growth of 6% between 2001 and 2010. Growth has been largely due to increased investment in mining, increases in commodity prices and a booming construction sector. Growth will likely continue in 2011, forecasted to be around 4.2%, with the main drivers being traditional exports such as mining, agriculture, fisheries and increased infrastructure investment.
