Digital Regulation and Compliance

The digital environment allows companies to conduct business in an entirely different way, but how does that impact regulatory controls and compliance? Companies including Uber, AirBnB, ZipCar, Groupon and Craigslist are operating under different laws and regulations and as more companies begin to explore the business model of a shared economy, the question of liability and the legal framework under which these companies’ operate come into question.

Companies that rely on, or have invested heavily in digital capabilities, need to ensure they can hire strong leaders in the areas of Legal, Compliance, Ethics and Regulation and while many of the skills required are transferable from more traditional bricks and mortar businesses, the digital environment brings an entirely different set of technology based, legislative, liability and privacy related challenges and issues that must be managed and monitored very closely.
